WordPress uses boxes to contain composition functions and groups of functions (Dec 2014)
How things are grouped or otherwise distinguished as separate units.
Examples:
- Visually: Lines, Boxes (colored, 3D), Shadows
- Sound/Haptic: Time (pauses/pacing), Order
Orientational:
Separation devices are means to create groups of ideas, actions, navigation, or media to help communicate to a user or direct their behavior. For instance, navigation might be kept in a colored box at the top, a sidebar of information could be separated with a line from the main text, and people often set different vibration patterns to distinguish between an alarm versus a text message.
They are most often used stylistically to communicate groups and organize information. Often paired with proximity, order, and color to accomplish this.
